Volunteering at GHCU can be a rewarding and educational experience. You'll learn how your Credit Union operates and become active in the decision making process of a not-for-profit, member-owned financial institution.

To volunteer you must:
  • Be a GHCU member in good standing.
  • Be able to attend regular committee meetings.
  • Want to learn more about the Credit Union.
  • You’ll also need an open mind, sound judgment, and a willingness to accept responsibility and to protect confidential information while working constructively and cooperatively with fellow Committee/Board members and staff.
Volunteer Members must be approved by the Board.

Scott G. Wheeler
Board Chairperson

Scott works as a Vice President of Fund Administration and Assistant Treasurer for Sentinel Investments. He is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and holds an advanced degree in Business Administration.

Scott has been a member of GHCU since 1987.

Patti Shedd
Board Vice-Chairperson

Patti is Sales Manager and a Mortgage Loan officer for Premium Mortgage Corporation in Vermont. In 2011, Patti became the first member of Premium Mortgage’s Vermont team. Patti holds more than 30 years of experience in the Banking Industry and 23 years in the Mortgage Industry. She began her career in 1978 at Randolph National Bank in Williamstown, Vermont. A year later, Patti became the Branch Manager of that office and continued as Manager for 8 years. In 1990, Patti started as the Business Development Officer for Vermont National Bank and then in 1992 began her career in the mortgage industry as their Loan Officer. From 1998-2010, Patti also owned and operated her own Vermont Mortgage Brokerage, Adirondack Mortgage.

Timothy L. Grenon
Board Secretary

Tim works for NTT Data, Inc. as a senior Principal Consultant on the National Life Group account. Tim holds a degree in information technology from Champlain College.

Tim has been a member of GHCU since 1986.

Susan M. Poczobut
Board Treasurer

Susan is the CEO of Granite Hills Credit Union and joined Granite Hills Credit Union (formerly National Life Credit Union) in 1996. Susan began her career in financial services in 1973 with Granite Savings Bank & Trust Company. Susan, a lifelong Barre resident, is active in Barre Rotary Club as Secretary, is the Chairperson of St. Monica Finance Committee and is a longtime Board member of the Association of Vermont Credit Unions.

Susan has been a member of GHCU since 1996.

Michael S. Pinkans
Board Member

Michael is currently Senior Vice President – Marketing for Zenith Marketing Group, Inc., and President of Pinkans & Associates. Mike earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from Union College in Schenectady, New York and a master of business administration (MBA) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The recipient of a four-year Air Force ROTC scholarship while in college, he earned the rank of Captain while serving a four-year tour of active duty at Offutt Air Force Base, Omaha, Nebraska.

Mike holds the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designations. In addition to his MBA, he also holds Master of Science in Financial Services (MSFS) and Master of Management (MSM) degrees from The American College. Mike is licensed in insurance in Vermont, New York, and North Carolina and also holds FINRA series 7, 24, 63 and 65 securities licenses.

Mike has been a member of GHCU since 1988.

Lynn Averill
Board Member

Lynn Averill retired from National Life Group in 2012 after 39 years of service, retiring as 2nd VP - Recognition & Conferences. In 2013 Lynn formed her own event planning company, and is a member of Financial & Insurance Conference Planners Association, having served as its President in 2001.

Lynn has been a member of GHCU since 1978.

Beth Chenette
Board Member

Beth is the Director of Web and Digital Marketing at National Life Group. She is a committee volunteer for Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice, and is a former board member and marketing committee chair of the Green Mountain United Way.

She has been a member of GHCU since 1994.

Granite Hills Credit Union is a locally managed, not for profit financial institution open to anyone who lives or works or worships in Washington or Orange Counties of Vermont and their families.
